How to Make Your Makeup Last Longer

Have you ever wondered if you can end your hectic day looking as fresh as the moment you hit the door in the morning? Here are 6 tips that will help you make your makeup last longer.

How to Make Your Makeup Last Longer

1. Go Oil Free

There’s a reason why coconut and argan oils are used as and in makeup removers. Foundations and other makeup products formulated with oil make it way more likely for it to slide out of place and gradually fade away as the day progresses. Choose oil free formulations instead.

2. Prime Up!

Why? A primer creates a barrier between your moisturizer and your foundation. It locks in that moisture and prevents your makeup from being absorbed by your skin.

3. We Heart Waterproof

Opt for a waterproof alternative, to prevent tears or sweat from smudging your mascara. Waterproof mascara comes handy when you're out exercising. Another advantage of going waterproof, is that its formulation will help you keep your lashes curled up longer!

4. Long-Wear all the way!

As a general rule, pick your makeup products wisely. Read labels, do your research and purchase eyeliners, foundations and everything in between that promises to stay put all day long.

5. Powder It

Gently apply some translucent powder over your face, to make sure your makeup look stays fresh longer. The trick here is not to overdo this and pick a light powder or you’ll end up looking cakey.

Another great tip is to “bake” your concealer. Simply use a beauty sponge and dampen it with setting spray. Next, use it to pick up the translucent powder and cover over the area where you applied concealer. Wait a couple of minutes and dust the excess off.

6. Spritz, Spritz, Spritz

Last but not least, get a hold of a high-quality setting spray. Think of setting spray as hair spray for your face. Spritz 3 times over your makeup look, and get ready to look your best all day, or all night! MAC, Makeup Forever and Urban Decay all have highly rated setting sprays to consider.

Now over to you: what are your tips to make your makeup last longer?
